LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) is an electrical standard for high-speed data transmission, mainly used in display interfaces. It realizes high-speed, low-power data transmission by using low-amplitude differential signals and has strong anti-interference capability. The LVDS display interface is a proven and reliable solution for high-speed data transmission.
differential signaling:
LVDS uses a pair of wires (called a differential pair) to transmit signals, one of which is a positive signal line and the other is a negative signal line. The receiving end decodes the information by measuring the voltage difference between these two wires, rather than relying on absolute voltage levels.
Low voltage swing:
Typically, the voltage swing of LVDS is only about 350mV, which helps reduce power consumption and increase speed.
High data rates:
Due to its lower voltage and differential signaling characteristics, LVDS is able to support very high data rates, typically up to several hundred Mbps or more.LVDS supports higher bandwidths for high-definition video, high refresh rate displays.
Long Distance Transmission:
Compared to single-ended signals, LVDS can maintain signal integrity over longer distances, making it suitable for connections between large-screen displays and motherboards or other control units.
Low Power Consumption:
The low-voltage signaling of LVDS dramatically reduces power consumption, making it ideal for portable devices and embedded systems.
Interface | Transmission Method | bandwidths | Power Consumption | EMI | Transmission Distance |
LVDS | Differential signal | high | low | Strong anti-interference | Medium (1-3 meters) |
TTL | Single-ended signal | Low | High | Poor anti-interference | Short (<1 meter) |
HDMI | Differential Signal | high | Medium | Strong anti-interference | Long (5-10 meters) |
MIPI | Differential Signal | high | Very low | Strong anti-interference | Short (<1 meter) |
High immunity to interference:
The differential signaling design makes it highly resistant to noise and maintains signal stability even over long transmission distances.

LVDS defines the standards for the physical layer, including requirements for driver output impedance, receiver input threshold, and maximum load capacitance. Although LVDS specifies the operation at the underlying hardware level, it does not limit the choice of upper layer protocols, which means it can be flexibly adapted to various application requirements.
The 5 inch TFT LCD display, 7 inch TFT LCD display, 10.1 inch TFT LCD display, and 8 inch TFT LCD display produced by Hongcai company all support LVDS interface.
